The Children's Film Society, A.P., (csfap), a voluntary organisation based in Hyderabad, India wishes to inform that it has been toying with the idea of hosting the 1st Asian Children's Film Festival in Hyderabad, in November 2002. |

After realising the need for the children's film, many film-makers in the world, have kept their adulthood aside, and tried their best to step into The Kids' emotional empire. Thanks to their efforts, made consistently with an indomitable commitment and sustained spirits, over the last four decades, the movement now bore the fruits. We can now hoist the flag of Children's Cinema aloft with pride, as the child-viewers all over the world do have their own films. Coming as it does, film makers all over the world have emphasised time and again the need for the production of children-cinema. |
Making films is one thing and producing films really for the children is quite another, and at it, a stupendous task indeed. Production of such films is only possible if only the children have active participation as viewers first. cfsap has been putting all its efforts in this direction ever since its inception in 1993. And with pride we wish to claim that our goal to make the child viewer to think aloud has been realized surely but gradually. And needless to say much more to be achieved. Technicians, script writers, Cinematographers, Producers and festival directors. |
To meet this objective cfsap has been screening the children's films to the children of Andhra Pradesh. It is not just that. While doing so we could cut across all the borders of region, religion, caste and gender. No small achievement this is! |
It is not entirely out of place to inform that we have also been motivating the children to give their opinion on the films screened as well. |
CFSAP has been the organizer of the now popular Open Forum at the biennial event of the International Children's Film Festival organized by the Children's Film Society of India and the government of Andhra Pradesh. cfsap also organizes workshops for the children and the teachers as well in the fields of script/film making/animation/puppetry at the festivals. |
It
has been found by many film personalities of international repute that the child
participants at the Open Forum are bold, open minded, and sharp in their criticism. At
times they have been found "too sensitive" too! |
We
are glad that the International Children's Film Festival has provided us - the elders - to
open up ourselves to the world of the children who at times might look childish but very
much matured as proved many times. After
realizing this crucial aspect, the Children's Film Society went ahead further and
conducted workshops on film appreciation for children and teachers. The motive has been to
make the children's participation in the Festivals more meaningful and beneficial. |
Film viewing and film appreciation fall under the receiving end of cinema. The Kid has to find its entry into the other end as well. We hold the view that the child should be given access to the tools for setting the process of film making in motion. With this noble cause, the Children's Film Society has started a children's Film Resource Center. Now its time to widen our area of activity. Here we go with the first ever Asian Children's Film Festival in Hyderabad in the year 2002. Our intention is to allow the children have wider access and wiser selection of films coming from different societies of Asia. The cfsap wishes to throw focal light exclusively on Asian Children's films.
If children become matured viewers, they will set their own standards in film making. They could even set an agenda for the films. Perhaps such an exercise could assure the world a rich harvest of quality films.Let kids grow with their dreams. |
