“OPEN FORUM” is a place where
interaction between child viewers, film maker, Directors, Technicians,
Film critics and people from different walks of life will be held on
various aspects of films.
The interaction will enable the
film makers to understand what the viewers are expecting, in the
process the discussion will lead to clarification and ratification.
It enables the film makers to come to an understanding the kind of
film liked by or expected by the viewers who are mostly children.
Children’s film festival is not only for
viewing not only got national & international: it is also an
opportunity to think and discuss in various issues that concern
children’s films and children’s film movement. it is with this
objective in mind that CFSAP regularly arranges open forum in which
experts & stalwards connected film in general share the experiences
and concern. With like minded lovers of children films with Children.
The society organised OPEN FORUM
during the International Children’s Film festival in 1995, 1997, 1999
and 2001 held at Hyderabad.
The Children’s
Film Society, A.P., in association with Children’s Film Society, India
and Andhra Pradesh State Film, Tv and Theatre Development. Corporation
has organised OPEN FORUM at 1.00 p.m every day from 15th
– 19th Nov ‘2003 at the main festival venue Prasad’s
Multiplex Theatre.
The
inauguration held on 15th November at 1:00 pm
by Sri. T. Devendar Goud, the Honourable Minister for Home
& Cinematography.

The
inaugural lamp lit by five galaxy of stallwords. Ms. Raveena Tondon,
Chairperson, CFSI., Director Mr. Vahid Nikkhah Azad from Iran,
Producer Ms. Elke Ried (germany), Film Maker Janno Boldma
(Estonic) and Producer Daiela Avabtes(Brazil) and Mr. Ramesh
Prasad, M.D, IMAX, Mr.Bh.S.S. Prakash Reddy, are also

A
question answer session was set rolling by Apparna Sinha who wanted to
find out differences between children’s film festivals in India and
abroad. As the producers and film makers from Germany Brazil and
Estonic had not seen much of Indian Film Festivals they felt that it
would be difficult put a finger on differences. Mr. Ahmed Shariff
instead of asking a question appeal to teach children through
children’s film right from young age to abhorr and fight terrorism.
Renowned journalist Mr. B.B. Nagpal observe that has all
country faces scarcity of funds, thou may be to wearing degrees,
they have taken there own steps to contain the problem. A young
journalist from Tamilnadu came down heavily on the obscene vulgar
dances during the inaugural function of 13th International
Children’s Film Festivals where in right from Mr. Nara
Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of A.P, Mr. T. Devender Goud,
Minister for Home & Cinematography of A.P., Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya,
Union Urban Development Minister, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad,
Union IT Minister and Ms. Raveena Tandon, Chairperson, CFSI
advocated a clean and healthy children. Another child asked allowed,
why are children’s films always flop. The film makers, producers on
the dais said that this question should not better answer by the
children. When the question volleyed back to children a child
confidently said that children’s film are always flop because parents
always talk about studies. Picking up the queue from children film
maker from Germany said children’s film do not earn money because of
branding problem. And also as film makers do not know likes and
dislikes of children. She also said that in Germany audio story books
for children are popular and there are several characters which are
dear to all children. Films need on these audio books and films
having these popular characters are doing well in commercial circuits.
However Vahed had a different stories of Iran. Iranian films are able
to reach Everest – hights in international erena.
“This years International Children’s Film Festival is definitely an
improvement over the last” Mr. T. Devender Goud stated while
inaugurating open forum series at 13th ICFF. He said that
the focus now is on children by 2005 the state will achieve 100%
literacy target. Regarding few film makers coming forward to make
children films. In spite of several incentives he agreed that at
present children he said that children’s films may not commercially
viable. He assures that, if they made quality they will have good
opportunities.

Ms. Raveena Tandon, Chairperson, CFSI said that it is not even one
month since she has took over this assignment. she agreed that a
permanent place was very much necessary. She has already seen positive
scene all around. She assured that this year they would formulate
certain concrete proposals, which would start following year.

Mr. M. Veda Kumar, Chairman, CFSAP underscore the vital need
for an integrated complex for making children’s films and shooting,
editing, dubbing, Mixing. This complex would have A-Z facilities and a
film maker put walk in with an idea and step out with a completed
children’s film. Veda Kumar was specially keen on specialized
institutes to professionally train and practically honed young makers
of children. He also advocated holding of increasing numbers of
workshops on increasing variety of things to make children films
Mr. Ramesh Prasad, M.D Prasad IMAX, Mr. Bh.S.S. Prakash Reddy
also grace the occasion. Ms. Elke Ried, Mr. Janno Boldma, Ms.
Daniela Avantes and Vahid Nikkah Azad are also gave the key ideas
to children.
Are
we already seen our Gajju its viewers turning its tiny tail round and
round at the success of the inaugural open forum session.
