The Film Appreciation Programme
for the benefit of the school children of the twin cities was
organised on 8th November 03 from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm in
the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. Around 300 students from 50
schools participated in the Programme.
The Programme was inaugurated
by the Chief Guest, Sri. Satish Pandharkar, Director, 13th
International Film Festival. Mr.B.Narsing Rao was the guest of
honour. Sri. Satish Pandherkar shared the significance of the film
festivals and commended the role of Children’s Film Society, A. P.
in its effort to bring an awareness amongst the school students
on choosing Film Making as a serious profession. He added that
students should take the learning from the orientation / Programs
to the rest of the school and promote those learnings. Mr.Narsing
Rao, Film Maker spoke at length on the concerns of children, their
likes and dislikes. He guided the students in various aspects of
film making right from understanding how to watch films and
analyse the same. He drew the children very close to nature saying
nature was the best teacher and that maximum learning takes place
in our surroundings only.

Mr.Veda Kumar, Chairman, CFS, AP shared
the Programmes conducted so far. He shared the vision and
objectives of the Children’s Film Society, A.P. the District
Children’s Film Festivals are being organised in all Districts of
Andhra Pradesh, as a prelude to the 13th International
Children’s Film Festival 2003. This is the first time in the
history of Children’s Film Movement in Andhra Pradesh, he said.
The resource persons for the
Programme were eminent personalities like Mr. K. B. Gopalam,
Ex.Dir. A.I.R, Mr. C. Yashodhar Rao, Principal, JNTU, Fine Arts,
Mr.Anil Ekbote, eminent writer for children. The children came out
with very thought provoking questions which was responded very
convincingly by the resource persons.
The
children found the Programme a very exciting platform through
which they could find answers to their curiosity and queries. The
children Film Society endeavors to invest all its effort and
energies in developing the capacities of the talented children and
provide to display skills

ANIMATION WORKSHOP
Venue: Conference Hall, JNTU College of Fine Arts
Date: 16th - 17th Nov 2003 between 9.00 am
and 6.00 pm
|
|
At this workshop children shall
learn art & techniques of animation. Through this workshop the
ultimate audiences of cartoon films, by making them aware of the
medium. This would allow them to appreciate the process and art
behind the films that they see almost every day on channels such as
Cartoon Net Work, Kermit etc.,
At this workshop 40 young
enthusiastic children who have been selected from various schools
shall learn the followings processes:
How
animation films are made

Purposes and uses in entertainment, education and commercials, etc.,

Mediums such as clay, paper, sand 3D animation
·
Animation
fundamentals
·
Animation
storytelling
·
Studio procedures
·
Technology and animation
In the interaction session,
students can share their views on animation, screening of cartoons and
also they can clarify their doubts in the Question & Answer session.
Workshop will
be conducted by the team of animators from Hyderabad.

PUPPETRY WORKSHOP
Venue: Conference Hall, JNTU College of Fine Arts
Date: 18th Nov 2003 between 9.00 am and 6.00 pm

The children’s Film Society,
A.P. in association with Children’s Film Society, India and A.P.
State Film Tv & Theatre Development Corporation organised a
workshop on puppetry on 18th Nov, 2003 at Exhibition
Hall, JNTU College of Fine Arts from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. |

Puppetry is
another media that children enjoy making. The varied forms of dolls
are made using materials such as jute, cloth, cotton and papers etc.,
In this one
day participatory workshop, the children discover their talent in
various aspects of a string puppet like script writing, character
sketching puppet making and presentation of puppets.
The unique
feature of this workshop is designed to be totally for the children,
of the children, by the children. String puppets are prepared based
on the characters created by the little creative minds who also
prepare a script for the relevant to their characters. Finally they
learn to give life to the characters and make a presentation of their
work on string puppet.
The
Puppet Resource Centre, a unit of
Andhra Mahila Sabha helped
in conducting
the workshop.

The resource group for the
workshop where from “Puppet Resource Centre, Literacy House,
Andhra Mahila Sabha”. Mrs. Madhavi facilitated the workshop and
guided the children during the day. Around 50 students from 20
schools participated along with 8 teachers. The children were
given an insight into the various aspects of puppetry. Different
kinds of puppets and its techniques were well demonstrated by
the resource persons. |

The children were divided
into 5 groups and with one facilitator each. Each group made
puppets of enormous sizes and small ones too. In all the
children made around 12 puppets viz. “Sheru(Lion), Chimpu(The
Monkey), Tito(The tortoise) Gujju (The Elephant), Parrot,
Baba(The Old man), Raja and the Rani two Jokers etc.” the
children made chart puppets , string puppets, rod puppets to
name a few. |

The
workshop was inaugurated by V.J. Samanth, famous animator,
India. The chief Guest was amazed on the creations of the
children. He marveled at the talents and skills exhibited at
such a short span of time by the school children. He saw great
potential on promise in the field of puppetry and commended the
efforts of the Children’s Film Society, A.P. in propagating and
promoting this art. He appealed to the children that they
identify their potential and build it in the years to come. He
looked upon this as a wheel of progress under the able the
guidance of Mr. M. Veda Kumar, Chairman, CFSAP. |
